Trefor Jones, Managing Director of Fourways Vehicle Solutions Ltd, was quoted in a recent article published in the Fleet News Daily Rental Guide. The feature discussed the mixed reputation that rental brokers have in the fleet industry, on the one hand they are sometimes criticised by focussing too much on price but on the other hand emphasising that they can provide an incredibly valuable service for fleets.
Trefor commented, ‘The largest fleet operators that spend vast amounts of money on car rental tend to fall under the direct control of the major rental companies and it is rare to find a broker fulfilling their needs.
Where the volumes are smaller, brokers can manage the client’s requirements extremely effectively by offering very high standards of service – even though their supply lines are still from the majors.
In effect this means a partnership is formed between the client, major rental company and the broker whereby the broker adds value that would be difficult to achieve through a direct relationship.
The article went on to say how Ladbrokes Plc showed its support for rental brokers when it recently signed a two year solus supply deal with Fourways Vehicle Rental.
