Choose The Right Vehicle with Fourways!

Whether you’re renting a car for a short business journey or a vehicle for long term use, it’s important to make sure you choose the right vehicle for the job.

At Fourways, we’re finding that vehicle groups across our wide spectrum of rental suppliers are becoming more and more ambiguous as fleets change and the motor industry evolves. The popular 1600cc size Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus is now often a 1500cc due to new engine efficiencies or it could even be a 1000cc eco boost… Just an example of the changes that have occurred over the last few years as manufacturers and likewise vehicle rental suppliers focus more on factors such as body size and CO2 emissions and less on the traditional engine size alone.

One of the frequently asked questions we receive is around the traditional 1800cc group, which a few years ago would include old favourites such as the Vauxhall Insignia and Ford Mondeo. Actually finding an 1800cc Ford Mondeo is a rare feat in the rental sector these days, most are now 2000cc engines and in this group you are far more likely to find yourself in a crossover vehicle such as the Hyundai ix35!

Commercial vehicles haven’t escaped either – 10 years ago we used to supply a car derived van, which would likely be a Vauxhall Astra van or a Vauxhall Combo, a short wheelbase, long wheelbase and a Luton. Now, there are variants in between, such as the Ford Transit Connect and the VW Transporter that are being requested far more frequently. We’re also seeing far more requests for automatic vans, which we have started to carry on our own fleet.

At Fourways, we have a large supplier base that covers the UK and beyond and we have an ever increasing fleet of our own. Our Reservations team are all well trained and used to accommodating all sorts of vehicle requests, the needs of our customers are paramount and we will endeavour wherever we can to source the correct vehicle for your rental.

If you have a really specific rental request, we can also speak to our sister company Fourways Self Drive and can often order in tailor made solutions onto our own fleet for such needs.

So the bottom line is, just pick up the phone and call us and we’ll be happy to help clarify any queries you have around vehicle groups and help you get on your way in the most suitable vehicle for you!
